Tennis...

Hello everybody, how are you all doing? Me I’m fine, a little bit excited to go home. So, the Tuesday after Easter, it was my host brother’s birthday. He turned 18 years old. This day, we went to the science museum. In the museum, we visited only one part, the one with the renewable energy. I learned some new things. Thursday 12, it was the tennis district tournament. We had to be at school early, 6h30. It was a tennis competition between schools, double and single, boys and girls. I played double with Fawaz, one of my best friends. It was the first time that we played a game together. At this tournament, the game was not 3 sets of 6 but 1 set of 8 games. Just a remained to people that doesn’t play tennis. A set is formed of 6 games. Each game has to be winning by one of the players. If you put the ball in the tennis court and your opponent can’t give it back, you score 15 points, if you score again, you score 30 points, if you score again, you win 40. If the score is 40-40, it’s called deuce. For win a deuce and thus a game, you need to score two consecutive times. Games started around 8, we lost our first game 8-2, our opponents were good but had trouble to win. The second game, we won, 8-0. This time, our opponents were not very good. After we had a third game, if we win this one, we go to “state”.  “State” is a bigger tournament with a lot more schools. Unfortunately, we lost it 5-8. I’m sure that with more practice, we could have been qualified for state. Friday night, it was my host brother’s birthday party. We went to a friend’s house. I’d teach them how to play “juggle speed”.  After, we order pizza and swan until the end of the party. Saturday afternoon, we went to another friend’s house. We paint some t-shirts and played sport. It was a funny weekend!! Thursday, I went to the international fair at Bellaire high school, my host brother school. We watched a show and after we ate. Different sections of food were proposed. The French one was constituted of “orangina”, “madeleine”… It was pretty and appetizing.

This week I receive an e-mail telling me that I will be home around June 26th, one day after my birthday. I’m excited!!

I hope that in France everybody enjoyed their Easter break.
